Meet Our Therapist

Chinicka is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California and a Licensed Certified Social Worker - Clinical in the state of Maryland.

Chinicka is certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy. Her focus is on trauma, depressive disorders, and anxiety-related disorders. Chinicka is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy but utilizes an integrative model with evidence-based interventions to tailor treatment to meet the unique needs of each and every one of her clients.

Over the last decade, Chinicka has gained experience working with older adults, adults, adolescents, and children in a gamut of settings ranging from high acuity psychiatric facilities for crisis stabilization, residential care facilities for emotionally disturbed adolescents to community mental health agencies and outpatient clinics. Her proven ability to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds is a testament to her approachability as a therapist.​

Specializing in Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, and Adolescent Therapy

Anxiety

Anxiety is the response to perceived danger. Chronic anxiety can change the brain and alter the reactivity of various brain structures. Learning about anxiety can help reduce symptoms and improve overall functioning. Clients who seek help from Oasis struggle with general anxiety, phobias, and panic disorders.

Depression

Depression can pervade all aspects of life. It can even lead to suicidal thoughts and self-harm. Clients who seek help from Oasis struggle with general dissatisfaction with life, lack of fulfillment, low self-esteem/self-worth, inability to feel pleasure or experience fulfillment, resolving grief and loss, and various chronic health conditions.

Women's Issues

Women's Issues impact the health and overall well-being of women. Clients who seek help from Oasis struggle with biological-related issues such as Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), infertility, pregnancy loss, and post-partum depression. Also,  gender-related issues such sexism and gender bias at school, work, or home.

Cultural/Ethnic Issues

Cultural issues cover a broad range of concerns including race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, and disability. Clients who seek help from Oasis struggle with acculturation, cultural dissonance, immigrant or intergeneration issues, LGBTQIA+, and disabilities. Specialization with cultural characteristics of Southeast Asian ethnicities.

Trauma

Trauma therapy focuses on helping people with complex trauma or experiences of a past traumatic event to help them manage the impacts of trauma. Clients who seek help from Oasis struggle with understanding ways their trauma affects their functioning and worldview. Specialization working with complex trauma and adverse childhood experiences.

Adolescent Therapy

Adolescents need a safe and supportive environment to discover themselves. Many developmental challenges arise in adolescence which impact behavior, mood, learning style and overall development. Clients who seek help from Oasis struggle with social-emotional issues, school-related anxiety, problems with peers, self image and identity issues.
